If forced to make a choice, would you prefer to have enough food to eat or straight A's in school for the rest of your life ? Would you prefer to have a home or close friends willing to do anything for you ? ( Now the fun begins ) As much as both of the options in both the examples were appealing, I want to say you would have chose the first one, but since, I am sure a lot might have chosen the second option as well, we got you covered, no worries. To the people who chose the first options in both the examples, I have something to share about the nature of why, though you might be thinking, "I already know", it wouldn't hurt to learn a few more things for information. To the people who chose different, that is, maybe first option in the first example and second one in the second example, you guys need to sort yourself out properly and know your path that you are feeling, cause, bluntly put, you are unconsciously lost. How would be a topic for another Saturn Mail, but anyways, moving to the people who chose the second options.
Subconsciously, everyone knows the power of basic human intrinsic qualities. That is, in desperate measure, the human, which is often referred to as an animal appears forth. An intelligent animal, a raw biologically standard explanation of humans. With our intelligence, we tend to develop thoughts, that act as an armor for our basic needs. That makes us who we are, and how we act. But, due to this, the active notion of the importance of our physiological needs get degenerated. We live in a homeostatic world, in my opinion, in a very luxurious way, so haven't had many chances to feel the invoken power of our instincts and basic drives. With that being said, I would like to share now, how the system of needs is actually divided. For that I would like to share the notion of a famous psychologist "Abraham Maslow".
Humans are motivated to do whatever they want to do, and not talking about the motivation we use in our normal everyday language, though not much different, Motivation is the force that enables humans to act towards their intrinsic drives. And due to their motivation, they plunge into the flow of life, and incentives which is the pull ( in contrast to drive which acts as a push ) towards a goal. It is the incentives that shape the consequences, hence forth it to note that, a person satisfies their needs in a way that it follows a hierarchy, no matter how much conscious effort you put in, you cannot move up this ladder, unless you satisfy the lower most need, which in this case is the physiological need.
So to those friends, who might have chosen the second options in our examples at the start, I would have been the same as them at one time, but put in a logical thought, and ask yourself, can you fight the human within you ? Your answer should be a default NO, because if it is Yes, then that means, you would no longer be a human, and angels and demons are separate entities, if one was to become them, he might have been born as that from the start, so you cannot transcend humanity. And it is a perfect beautiful thing not to do so, for this is artistic in its own way.
My words might not mean a lot to some, because, I don't have the magic power of fame and influence yet, so, I would like to share an example, a proper study and experiment. Which supports this general claim that most would already agree and agreed even before me saying anything, but hey, what's the harm in a little flexing. During World War 2, a study was conducted with people, who wanted to find the effects of starvation in hopes to understand the refugees better and adept in a better way to help them. These people were given half the food they averagely ate for 6 months. With their own will of course. It was apparent later on that these people became in short weak, but interestingly so obsessed with food that they would day dream about it, talk about it all the time, discuss recipes for hour, and collect cook books, and to the extreme, they chose pictures of food over their own girlfriends. So, it seems unrealistic, but as TGM ( me ) would say
"The real essence of humans lays in the unrealistic genres of life."
Moving up from physiological needs, we get, Safety and security, which is like an insurance for a proper functioning of mind and body, followed by love and belongingness in the next level. Humans need love, one way or another, and they need to belong somewhere, mentally or physically, hence why we get tribes, companies, teams, and even online clubs would count in that. For if a person doesn't belong anywhere, he will probably become lost to the effects of Nothingness. After Love, comes Esteem, now many lovers and love fanatics and fan boys ( like me ) might think, Hey, how can esteem be higher than love, well, esteem can exist without love, but love cannot exist without esteem and respect, so there you go, a simple answer to a very simple problem that for some reason, simple people do not look at in a simple way. I think I simply put in a lot of 'simple's' in a simple sentence. ( I need to cut out my stupid comedy that would make no one laugh while doing a serious work )
Now, the hierarchy of needs, is found in detailed version and simple versions as well, so i will stick to the simple ones, and not mention a lot about Cognitive needs, etc. But after Esteem generally comes the concept appreciation, and rational understanding of fundamental concepts of all sorts. This leads to one of the highest tires, which only few people in life reach, "Self Actualization".
'Self Actualization and Transcendence' are in simple language, the god level tiers of this hierarchy. Self Actualization marks the notion of knowing ones true and max abilities, for those who have seen Naruto and Guy sense's gates, its like opening all the gates of chakra. For those who don't know what I am talking about, in short, ability to utilize every ability within oneself to rise to be an exceptional entity. And become a beacon and pinnacle of light for those below. True Leaders. But one thing, that is often placed a little higher than even self actualization is Transcendence. Power is difficult to manage, and over the course of time, it dampens its own skills, its like burning so bright that it burns out itself. To prevent that, the safe switch is Transcendence, that is spiritual peace and realization of ones spiritual requirements. It is a journey that every one has to follow themselves, so I wont say much about it here, at least not yet, but, this pinnacle of hierarchy ends with One true potential coming out. A closer to a perfect human like state.
As mentioned earlier, one cannot advance without first satisfying the lower most needs, so it is to be covered and followed in an order. Though this statement, poses yet another interesting notion to play in mind. If the lowest most in necessary, why do we get deviant behavior. What I mean to say is, Love cannot be achieved unless security and safety is confirmed and attained. Then why would a parent sacrifice themselves for their children. This kind of deviated from the ladder we talked so much about just now. the answer to this query lies in my statement when I said, we need to satisfy the lower need to unlock the upper stage, once unlocked, I never said, it cannot influence other needs. A person changes with every realization he is met with in life. A person cannot love unless he feels safe, but once they reach love, taste it's awesomeness, they might not care any more about their own safety, for them, safety of their children comes first, ( Do focus, safety is still being targeted, only instead of themselves they chose their children, what I mean to say is, a mother that might lose her life in saving her son, she knows that if dies, no one would lover her son like she does, so love is being sacrificed for the sake of safety ) it just comes again to what I said about incentives. Drives move you to satisfy the needs, and incentives, the pull to what you want, shape the life. So, one should keep in mind the relating effect one what drives themselves and in what way, and to every new realizations, they should know, how it will change their way of thinking and acting and prepare accordingly.
Thank you, ( i feel like i could have written it better, so sorry if it wasn't much interesting )
